Golden Milk Mix
This time of year especially, but any time, really, I find my body in need of a boost to just about everything: energy, metabolism, brain power, antioxidants, heart protection… the list goes on. Fortunately, in my search for natural means to address these things, I found out and fell in love with Golden Milk!
Named such for the turmeric which colors it, this mix is not quite a tea, but certainly tea-adjacent. In other countries like India, it is often imbibed as a health tonic, warming draught, or even to address minor health issues. The spices and roots of this blend are simmered in plant based milk not just to enhance the anti-inflammatory properties, but because the beneficial compounds inherent to the ingredients are fat-soluble - they are more available to your body on the back of a healthy fat!
I have found Golden Milk to be a lovely addition to my healthy food/beverage regimen, and I hope you will too!
This is definitely one of those moments where some care in your choice of milk and sweetener will make or break the health benefits of this blend. Organic coconut milk and/or cashew milk are suggested, but whatever you choose, spring for the organic stuff. Note that coconut and cashew milks are naturally creamier and thicker which adds to the body and flavor of the blend. Almond, oat, soy, etc will lend to a spicier beverage and a waterier texture.
Sweetener, if desired, should also be organic or natural if possible. This is not the moment for white sugar; bust out the honey, maple syrup, or date or coconut sugar if you have it.
This package will yield approximately 4 cups of liquid, depending on how much milk you use.
