Matcha Tea Starter Kit
Whether you’re brand new to the world of matcha or looking to elevate your current matcha tea experience, Cornerstone Tea has you covered. We are proud to introduce our matcha starter kits. Each kit contains everything you need for your own perfect tea ceremony.
Chawan (Tea Bowl) - Traditional ceramic vessel used to prepare and sip matcha. These chawans are hand-made in Western North Carolina by an expert potter and each one is unique. Yours may vary in color to the photos listed on this site. Special thanks to Irving Rose Pottery for partnering with us. Can be ordered separately through our website.
Chashaku (Tea Spoon) - The small, curved, bamboo utensil used to help scoop the appropriate portion of matcha into the chawan.
Chasen (Bamboo Whisk) - One of the most important aspects of matcha preparation. The dozens of small, curved tines vigorously aerate the matcha, giving the matcha that classic frothy texture.
Matcha Tin - Finally, you’ll need the matcha. Included in this kit is one approx. 15-serving tin of our fine matcha. Can be ordered separately through our website
Care and cleaning instructions:
For the Chawan: Do not place in the dishwasher. Hand wash in warm water only with mild soap. Gently towel dry.
For the Chashaku - hand wash in warm water only with mild soap and pat dry with towel to remove excess moisture and leave out to air dry fully before storing. Make sure the chashaku is completely dry before scooping into the matcha powder.
For the Chasen - When preparing your matcha, whisk vigorously to produce a homogenized frothy tea but take special care not to press the tines too hard into the bowl as they are very delicate. To clean, fill a clean bowl with warm, soapy water and whisk vigorously for a few seconds to clean the tines, again being careful not to bend or break the tines. Shake the excess water out of the tines and leave to air dry. Store upright where the tines won’t get damaged.
